Ready to experience what Sony has to offer with their UHD 4K smart TVs? Packed with features that serve to provide incredible quality in HDR as well as SDR, the Sony XBR75X950H is geared to bring colors and picture quality to video games as much as it is everyday TV binging. It might just be the best 4K TV, provided you can afford it. Before we dive into this review, let’s first compare it with other devices from our list of the best TVs in the market.

Performance

The brightest brights and darkest darks are a joy to see with the Sony XBR75X950H. It’s no secret that HDR and UHD 4K resolution look impressive coming from the Picture Processor X1 Ultimate Processor, in addition to Dolby Vision, but object based HDR and object based super resolution work particularly well when HD content is upscaled. That said, it’s just a step behind in colours compared to the Samsung Q7F QLED.

Even with X Wide Angle, some users experienced a slight reduction in HDR content. With full array LED and local dimming, dynamic contrast was still far superior to SDR. It isn’t enough of a performance reduction to make a difference, however.

Design

The Sony XBR75X950H has a rather accommodating design. What we mean by that is a few design choices were made to make hooking devices and setting this Sony TV up. The remote control, for example, is straightforward and even incorporates Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It’s an Android TV, after all, and voice commands allow for hands free control. If you prefer wall mounts, the inputs like digital audio output and HDMI ports are angled sideways. With a stand it measures 65.88 x 16.38 x 41.38-inches; without stand it measures 5 7/8W x 37-7/8H x 2-7/8D inch.

Value

The Sony XBR75X950H appears to be all over the map in terms of features, wanting to incorporate various technologies to accommodate everything under the sun. For example, X-Motion Clarity provides 120Hz, which is excellent for gaming. And Acoustic Multi-Audio provides some impressive sound technology.

With such a treasure chest of features, it’s still tough to accept its $2,798 price tag. It isn’t exactly cheap and could be out of reach for many average consumers. It’s still cheaper than Sony XBR-A1E OLED—so if you can get your hands on one of these, you won’t be disappointed whatsoever. The TCL 55R617 is a good budget option.

Sony XBR75X950H Wrap Up

Regardless of its high price, the Sony XBR75X950H is still a high quality UHD 4K smart TV, packed with so many great features. It wants to do so much, like voice control with Google and Alexa, while improving SDR content. Our only wishes are for Sony to come down on the price and improve viewing angles just a smidge. It’d be perfect then.
