Top 10 Best Travel Gear

#1  Narwey Hanging Travel Toiletry Bag

Award: TOP PICK

WHY WE LIKE IT: Completely waterproof toiletry bag with a convenient built-in smart hook, for easy hanging, with availability in dozens of style and color options.

Pros
  • Dozens of design options
  • Completely waterproof
  • Hook allows for easy hanging
Cons
  • Does not ship with bottles of containers
  • Zippers can be finicky

The Narwey Hanging Travel Toiletry Bag is one of the best air travel accessories, thanks to a completely waterproof design that ensures the contents of your toiletries will not leak out and ruin your clothing. We loved the multiple storage pockets and the convenient built-in smart hook, which allows for easy hanging once you arrive at your destination or in the back of a car. This toiletry bag is also available in dozens of color and design options, to suit nearly any consumer.

Though this is a supremely well made item, we did find that the zippers could be finicky, though we got the hang of it eventually. Additionally, this purchase includes the fold-out toiletry bag only, and does not come with any bottles or containers. Ladies should also consider purchasing the best women’s summer bag that has core features such as style, design, size, storage, materials, closure, and straps.

#2  Teapile 4 Pack Travel Bottles

Award: HONORABLE MENTION

WHY WE LIKE IT: Leak proof container that is perfect for shampoo and other toiletries, with a budget-friendly price tag and a design that is fully approved by the TSA.

Pros
  • Best on a budget
  • Food grade and BPA free
  • TSA approved
Cons
  • Vinegar or other acidic liquids could damage materials over time

The Teapile 4 Pack Travel Bottles is fully approved by the TSA, so you won’t run into any trouble taking these toiletry bottles on to flights. We loved the leak proof and waterproof design and the fact that the materials are food grade and free from potentially harmful BPA. This four pack of travel bottles also comes in at a budget-friendly price tag, further enhancing its must-have status.

Though these bottles are perfect for shampoo, toothpaste, hand sanitizer and related toiletries, we wouldn’t recommend using them to store vinegar or other acidic liquids, as the material could become damaged over time. And if you’re traveling with a toddler, try out one of the best wet dry bags that are waterproof and have large wet compartments that can hold many cloth diapers.

 #3  Yamiu Travel Packing Cubes

Award: BEST FOR FLIGHTS

WHY WE LIKE IT: Great choice for national or international flights, with a design that has been approved by the TSA and shipping with 7 packing cubes, including a shoe bag and 2 toiletry bags.

Pros
  • Design approved by TSA
  • 7 piece set includes shoe bag and 2 toiletry bags
  • Lightweight with high-quality nylon fabric
Cons
  • Only 6 color options
  • Not the largest luggage set available

These Yamiu Travel Packing Cubes ship in a handy seven piece set, which includes multiple cubes for clothing, a shoe bag and two toiletry bags. The whole set is approved by the TSA, making for hassle-free flights, and each cube is made from high-grade nylon. We also loved just how light this set is, clocking in at just a few ounces per unit. The double zippers are also of an extremely high quality, easily zipping open and shut whenever necessary.

Though this set of luggage is simple and aesthetically pleasing, it is only available in six color options, which may not suit every consumer. Additionally, this is not the largest luggage set available, so may not be appropriate for families who intend to bring weeks of clothing. And to find the best sling bags available to carry your gear, take a look at each bag’s materials, available storage space, styling, and comfort

#4  Zoppen Multi-purpose RFID Blocking Travel Passport Wallet

Award: BEST SECURITY

WHY WE LIKE IT: Tri-fold wallet with built-in RFID blocking technology, for security, and featuring a roomy interior that can hold passports, boarding passes, keys, credit cards and more.

Pros
  • Over 40 style options
  • Tri-fold design with room for passport, boarding passes, credit cards and more
  • Durable PU leather lining
Cons
  • Fairly large and may not fit in small jeans pockets
  • Cannot hold iPhone

This Zoppen Multi-purpose Rfid Blocking Travel Passport Wallet is a fantastic choice for those looking to travel while still keeping their privacy intact. This large tri-fold wallet is made from durable PU leather and features RFID blocking technology, to prevent would-be criminals from accessing your secure information. We loved how roomy this wallet is, with plenty of space for items such as passports, and the fact that it can be purchased in over 40 color and design options.

Though this wallet is roomy enough for passports, boarding passes, credit cards, keys and more, it is on the larger side and may struggle to fit in smaller jeans pockets. Also, though roomy enough for multiple items of documentation, it is not big enough to hold a full-screened iPhone or an Android phone. Check out the best passport holder for more generous storage capacity and an overall excellent design quality.

 #5  Saireider Travel Neck Pillow

Award: BEST FOR NAPS

WHY WE LIKE IT: High-grade neck pillow that is perfect for catching a nap as you travel, with a contoured shape for comfort and shipping with both a storage bag and a pair of earplugs.

Pros
  • Contoured shape for comfort
  • Made entirely from quality memory foam
  • Ships with storage bag and earplugs
Cons
  • Can heat up with prolonged use
  • Only 3 colors available

The Saireider Travel Neck Pillow is a great choice for getting some much needed sleep as you travel across the country or the world, with an ultra-comfortable, contoured and ergonomic design that is made entirely from shape restoring memory foam. We also loved that this neck pillow ships with both a storage bag and a pair of earplugs, the latter helping to reduce unwanted noise on an airplane, bus, or car.

Though we found this piece of travel gear to be highly comfortable for naps, we did find that it could slightly heat up with prolonged use. Also, there are only three colors available, which may not suit the aesthetic needs of all consumers.

#6  Bubm Travel Universal Accessories Organizer

Award: BEST FOR GADGETS

WHY WE LIKE IT: Perfect for storing and organizing your many gadgets and cables as you travel, with a design made from waterproof nylon and featuring 6 easy access mesh pockets.

Pros
  • Made from waterproof nylon
  • 6 easy access mesh pockets for organization
  • Ships with cable management accessories
Cons
  • Can struggle to fit larger items, such as mouse devices

The Bubm Travel Universal Accessories Organizer is the best piece of travel gear for organizing and storing gadgets and their accompanying cables as you go about lengthy travel sessions. The exterior is made from waterproof nylon and the interior contains six easy access mesh pockets, with a large main pocket for phones and small tablets. We also loved that this organizer comes with some cable management accessories, including a number of fastening microfiber cable ties and 15 elastic loops. Plus, you can also carry our best travel adapter in this organizer.

Though this is one of the best luxury travel accessories, thanks to its ability to easily accommodate expensive gadgets, we did notice that it offered an extremely tight fit when trying to squeeze in a mouse, due to the thickness. Also remember that no matter where you’re going, from home to work, on an international trip, or even just out shopping for the day, the best bags will make everything a whole lot better.

#7  OlimpiaFit 3 Size Travel Towel Set

Award: BEST FOR EXERCISE

WHY WE LIKE IT: Set of 3 multipurpose towels, each an ideal choice for hitting the yoga studio or gym while you are traveling, with a quick-drying antimicrobial microfiber design.

Pros
  • Built-in hanging loop for storage
  • Antimicrobial and quick-drying design
  • Made from comfortable and light microfiber material
Cons
  • Cannot be personalized
  • Largest towel not quite big enough to act as beach towel

This OlimpiaFit 3 Size Travel Towel Set is a stunning collection of three towels, each in a different size, that is perfect for attending the gym or a yoga class while out on your travels. Each towel is made from ultra-comfortable microfiber that is designed to be antimicrobial. We also loved the built-in hanging loop, for storage, and the fact that these towels dry much quicker than many others available for purchase.

We found each of these towels to be large enough for any gym-related activity we could think of, though the largest does struggle a bit as a beach towel, coming in at 50×30”. Additionally, these towels cannot be personalized, though they are available in multiple colors.

#8  Lewis N. Clark RFID Blocking Stash Wallet

Award: BEST QUALITY

WHY WE LIKE IT: High-quality neck pouch wallet with RFID blocking technology, self-repairing zippers and fabric that is designed to wick away moisture.

Pros
  • Multiple compartments for electronics, cards etc.
  • RFID blocking technology
  • Self-repairing zippers work flawlessly
Cons
  • Neck-hanging design may not be for everyone
  • Can be seen underneath clothing

The Lewis N. Clark RFID Blocking Stash Wallet makes traveling through airport gates as simple as possible, as it allows all of your pertinent documents to hang securely from your neck. The ultra-slim design is lightweight and the self-repairing zippers work flawlessly, allowing for effortless opening and closing for retrieval. There are multiple compartments located throughout, which can hold passports, electronic devices, credit cards and more.

This is one of the more unique travel accessories we tried, and the neck-hanging design may not be for everyone. Also, though this wallet is extremely slim, it can still be seen underneath clothing.

 #9  MaxRock Travel Sleep Earplugs

Award: BEST HIGH-TECH

WHY WE LIKE IT: High-tech solution to the problem of travel noise, as these earbuds isolate and block noise and deliver crisp audio, with a built-in microphone for making phone calls.

Pros
  • Built-in microphone
  • Silicone design is perfect for long-term use
  • Noise isolating technology
Cons
  • Bass response is not greatest
  • Carry case somewhat flimsy

These MaxRock Travel Sleep Earplugs are extremely comfortable and perfect for long trips, thanks to an ergonomic silicone design. We loved the built-in microphone, which is perfect for making phone calls, and the noise isolating technology, which both isolates and reduces unwanted bursts of noise such as those found in an airplane. They also ship with multiple eartips, to allow for a flawless and universal fit.

Though these earplugs do deliver high-quality audio in the mids and highs, we found the bass suffered slightly, due to the nature of the silicone design. Additionally, the carry case that comes with this piece of travel gear is on the flimsier side.

#10  Overland Travel Dog Tote Bag

Award: BEST FOR PETS

WHY WE LIKE IT: Helps to take some of the stress out of traveling with a pet, as this all-in-one tote bag is designed to store food, treats and related items, and it ships with a pair of collapsible silicone bowls.

Pros
  • Lined carrier cans for food storage
  • Ships with collapsible silicone bowls
  • Adjustable shoulder strap for a comfortable carry
Cons
  • Not washing machine safe, though bowls are dishwasher safe
  • Zippers can get stuck with prolonged use

The Overland Travel Dog Tote Bag is a perfect accompaniment for your favorite pooch or feline. It boasts plenty of room for food, treats, grooming accessories and more, with lined carrier cans for food storage. The adjustable shoulder strap makes for a comfortable carry, as this tote bag is fairly light, and it ships with a pair of collapsible silicone bowls, for feeding time.

This tote bag can get messy, however, as it is designed for pets to stand in front of as they eat. To that end, the silicone bowls can be cleaned in the dishwasher though the bag itself cannot be placed in the washing machine, with the company recommending hang washing with a damp cloth.

How We Decided

To help narrow down to the above list, we took great care to make selections that truly made traveling less of a chore. To that end, we populated the list with all manner of travel gear and travel accessories, such as neck pillows, luggage, wallets, toiletry bags and more. In short, no matter you are looking for, you are likely to find it here.

We liked durable and well made pieces of travel gear that we were certain could withstand hectic travel environments, such as crowded cars filled with children and TSA lines at the airport. Many of the above items are TSA approved, on that note, so you’ll have on trouble bringing them along as a carry on or as a dedicated piece of luggage.

We also tended to prefer travel gear products that brought something unique to the table, such as RFID-blocking technology, in the case of the two wallets we featured, and the built-in hanger loops and quick-dry capabilities of the OlimpiaFit towel set. Finally, we made sure each and every item we chose was aesthetically pleasing.

Best Travel Gear Buyer’s Guide

The Most Important Features to Consider

  1. Durability
If you are shopping for travel gear, durability should be of the utmost importance. These accessories need to be able to withstand hectic cars, often with children co-passengers, and busy TSA lines. If it’s luggage, make sure the fabric is double stitched or increases durability via some other means. If it is a toiletry bag, look for something that is completely waterproof, so as to protect from any leakage.
  2. High-tech Features
Many modern pieces of travel gear come packed to the grills with high-tech features. These can include RFID blocking technology, in the case of wallets or other accessories intended to store travel documents, and noise isolating drivers, as in the case of earplugs and earbuds intended for use on noisy airplanes.
  3. TSA Approved
If you are planning on taking flights, be they international or domestic, you may want to pick a piece of travel gear that has been TSA approved. This means that the TSA has taken a look at the design and decided that it was fine for carry on, stowaway or, in some cases, both. Many modern accessories will boast of TSA approval on their Amazon pages, so be on the lookout.

Travel Gear FAQs

Travel Gear FAQs

This depends entirely on the individual, but we’d suggest making sure you have some good TSA approved luggage, some towels in case you want to go to the gym and a high-quality and waterproof toiletry bag, as a jumping off point. If it is luggage, make sure it is easy to pack. If it is a gadget of some kind, look for durable components made from high-grade materials like stainless steel. Also, you could be helped to make a packing list before you go.

What should every traveler have?

Beyond luggage and toiletry bags, we’d suggest that modern travel invest in a wallet with RFID blocking technology. This will help keep your private and sensitive information out of the hands of would-be hackers and other nefarious types. Other useful items include face masks, sleeping bags, water bottles, travel backpacks, a digital luggage scale, Bluetooth speakers, power banks, hiking backpacks and more.

What do I need when traveling?

This depends on if you are planning on taking a short trip or a lengthier trip. We’d recommend a toiletry bag and an RFID blocking wallet for short trips and a towel set, for hitting the gym, and an electronics organizer if you are planning on being away from home for a long period of time

Are packing cubes worth the money?

We like to think so. Packing cubes, such as the one found on the above list, help save space and are often TSA approved, making them an obvious choice for air travel when checking a bag. They are also great for road tripping.
